Cookie policy

Information statement for the processing of online customers personal data – Cookie policy pursuant to (EU) Regulation 2016/679

What are cookies?

Cookies are data created by a server and memorised in text files on a computer hard disk or any device used by the user to access the internet (smartphones, tablets) and enable the collection of information on users’ website browsing.

Cookies may be permanently memorised on your computer and are of variable duration (so-called persistent cookies), while others may be deleted as soon as you close your browser, or have a limited duration (so-called session cookies).

Cookies may be installed by the website you are visiting (so-called first party cookies), or by other websites (so-called third party cookies).

How we use cookies

1- Technical cookies

– session/ navigation cookies: The use of so-called session cookies (which are not persistently memorised on the user’s computers and are deleted as soon as the browser is closed), is strictly limited to the transmission of session ID (consisting of random numbers generated by the server) required to enable safe and efficient browsing on the website and its applications. So-called session cookies used on the MEWLIFE website do not use other computer technologies that may potentially compromise users’ browsing confidentiality, and do not enable the acquisition of users’ personal ID. They do not require your consent.

– Persistent Cookies: persistent cookies remain on your device even after you exit the website, until the user deletes them or their expiry date. MEWLIFE website creates this type of cookie and memorises them on your device so that they can be read when the user visits the website again. This enables among other things to recover set preferences and apply them to future sessions (e.g. language settings). They do not require your consent.

2. Analytics Cookies: cookies installed to collect aggregate information mostly of a statistical nature (length of time spent on a web page, number of visitors to website).

– First party analytical cookies: similar to technical cookies as they are directly installed by the website you are visiting, for enhanced usability. They do not require your consent.

– Third party analytical cookies: analytical cookies created and installed by third parties to analyse user browsing, for obtaining statistics on visits or to improve contents, display and perhaps also position similar products, as well as for targeted advertising purposes on web pages. Google Analytics is the system used and is a web analysis service provided by Google LLC (“Google”). Like other systems, Google Analytics uses cookies to enable the website to analyse how users are using it. Information generated by cookies on website use (including IP address), are submitted to and deposited at Google servers in the United States. Google uses this information to trace and examine website use, draw up website activity reports and provide other services for Internet use. Google may also transfer this information to third parties when required by the law, or whenever said third parties process aforementioned information on behalf of Google. Google will not associate the user’s IP address with any other data in Google’s possession. The user can always object to using cookies by selecting settings on their browser, however this may result in them being unable to use all website functionalities. Whenever the IP address is clear, your consent is required for the use of such cookies. By clicking on the “OK I consent” button on the banner or continuing to browse on the MAIRE website, the user agrees to the processing of personal data by Google, in compliance with aforementioned methods and purposes.

3. Profiling Cookies: cookies used to trace the user’s online browsing and create profiles based on their tastes, habits, choices, etc. These cookies may be used to transmit advertising messages to the user’s device, in line with previously manifested preferences while browsing online.

– First party profiling cookies: MAIRE does not use or install profiling cookies to collect information on the habits of browsers.

– Third party profiling cookies: used and installed by third parties to trace user’s online browsing and create profiles in line with their tastes, habits, choices. These cookies are managed by third party companies, such as Google, AddThis. MEWLIFE website also contains social buttons/widgets, which are special buttons featuring social network logos (like Facebook and Twitter). These “buttons” enable users browsing the website to reach and directly interact with social networks, in one simple click. Clicks on Social buttons/ widgets may enable social networks to acquire data on the user’s visit to MEWLIFE website and simultaneously issue their own profiling cookies.

Managing Cookie Preferences

Consent to cookie use may be given as follows:

– by clicking on the “OK” button on the banner containing the short information statement and which pops up when the user accesses the website;

– by continuing browsing MEWLIFE website, accessing another area of the website or selecting an element from said page.

How to change cookie settings

Most internet browsers are initially set to automatically accept cookies. This means that the user can set their browser at any time so that all, only some, or no cookies are accepted, thus disabling their use by websites. Additionally, users can usually set preferences in their own browser so that they receive a warning each time a cookie is memorised on their computer. Lastly, at the end of each browsing session, the user can delete collected cookies from their device’s hard disk. If you wish to delete cookies installed in the cookies folder of your browser, please remember that each browser presents different procedures for managing settings.
